The instruction manual on an XJS actually offers some advice about extended driving.
If one wishes to partake in a journey in excess of ten miles, it is strongly advised that one makes a goat sacrifice to the Great Prince Lucas of Darkness before starting one's journey. This will ensure that for the remainder of your voyage, there is a lowered possibility of one suffering from the wrath of Lucas, should you indadvertedly displease his Greatness.

This is not the way it should be. This is:
That leaping cat only belongs on a jaguar limousine IMO. But nevertheless: Have fun!

Oh, could you possibly let me know if you find anything. Depending on the symptoms I might have the same thing.
Mine has hesitation in the lower rev-range, especially pronounced at part-throttle.
First port of call for me will be hitting the MAF with some electrical cleaner. After that, there was a point where I had a CEL with the code Fuel Fail 16, which is an intake air temp sensor. I had a play around with the plug and it went away so I thought it was probably contact-related, but it might have been an early warning that that sensor is on the way out. I know it affects fuelling, so it could be a likely candidate.

yup, no doubt. This sounds like the same exact thing. Partial throttle hesitation just off idle to about 1/4

Sweet :) that we've got two minds working on it, not that both cars have hesitation...
I'll clean the MAF tonight. See if that works :) might pull the plugs as well actually to see if it's running rich, or if there's something up with one cylinder.
Out of curiosity, what's the warm idle rpm on the XJS?

The V12's require a blood sacrifice of a close family member.

Same with me. Apparently it's meant to be 650-800 so it's on the high side of normal. I wonder if that's related...

Fixed it :) I pulled the intake apart. Sprayed some ACF into the little venturi in the MAF (although I doubt that was the problem) and cleaned 145k miles' worth of built up oil from the throttle body.
Just taken it out for a spin and it feels like a new car :)

first thing I am going to look at is the cleanliness of the throttle body. Thanks! I will let you know how it comes out
